Rust, News and a Giveaway!

This is some of what I have been up to lately.
Vessels:

‘Doodle Book’You’d be forgiven for thinking ‘more rust, more journals – and...?’
BUT it’s the fabric/material (call it what you will) I rusted that is the issue here. It ends up feeling like a soft suede – unbelievable.

This (unfinished) hanging is also made from the same rusted fabric with a glaze over the top.Close up you can see the rust marks through the glaze.I also made this 'Doodle Book' from the same fabric. Not really my colours but it's good to try something different. The inside pages – all part of the process of putting it together. This is what was used for the inside cover – a wipe clean surface!

Although these pieces do not feature in ‘Stitching the Textured Surface’, you will have to buy the book to find out what was used and how to put them together. Hows that for a bit of cryptic wording? :)

Giveaway
As I said before the colours of this ‘Doodle Book’ are not really me so if anyone would like to give it a good home then just leave your name on here or if you’d rather, just email me ‘off-blog’ (is that a term?) and I'll do the usual in a week or so and draw a name out of a hat.

Calendar Girls

I received my May Calendar Girls postcard today. In case you can’t guess, the subject matter is a Monet painting for this month 'Sea Roses'– another difficult one. This is Doreens interpretation and its brilliant. From a distance it looks like a watercolour painting its only when you hold it close up you can see it has been embellished. Thanks Doreen, a wonderful piece of work.

I’m on the trade stand at the Essex Young Farmers Show this Sunday. Being the only woman in a chauvinistic environment they all seem to think I am well pleased to be serving refreshments all day Sunday!!! If anyone reading this is coming along, please come and say hello. Don’t think I’m allowed to mention the company I work for on here, suffice to say we are the dealership for those top-of-the-range green and yellow machines, so you should have no trouble finding me :)

I am not just here for the giveaway - though it would be churlish to pass up a chance to win your gorgeous journal :) I wanted to say how much I love your vessels and hanging, and am very intrigued about how you made the fabric - if it is indeed fabric... How long do we wait for the book? And does it involve a lot of sewing to make these vessels, or could someone like me have a go at it?

Diana said...

I think your doodle book is lovely and would love to enter the draw please!

Well now, with 41 comments before me, I know I won't win this, but I'm going to enter my name anyway - you know what they say - you can't win if you don't enter! It's lovely.
