I am in the Fibre Art Friends birthday postcard swap for 2008 and this month it's the birthday of Emmy and Kim.I thought I would make them a postcard using the techniques I am working on at the moment.
The corsets/basques are made from heat treated stainless steel fabric and stitched on

These are on there way to you Emmy and Kim, happy birthday month to you both - I do hope you like them.

Last Saturday I went to the first meeting of a newly formed group the Eastern Region Textile Forum (ERTF) whose aim is to raise the profile of textile art.
The Chairperson is Chris Spencer who blogs as 'Chrissythreads' and you can find photographs taken at the meeting on her blog. Among the speakers were James Hunting. If ever you get the chance to listen to him then you really must. He was really good and he let us all handle some of his amazing work.
It was a wonderful day and I met some really interesting ladies one of which made this bag for herself. Its made from rug canvas and plastic bags - hows this for recyling!
The big white blob is where I caught someone in the photo but haven't asked permission to show their image on here. I caught the back of this lovely girl in the photo too and I haven't asked her permission either but I'm sure she won't mind. :) Its Gina Ferrari of 'Fan my Flame' whom I met for the first time although I have been a constant visitor to her really good blog. Now, this bit here is just for the Calendar Girls.
At Christmas time, Doreen had this brilliant idea for an online party and the first requirement was that we had to show a photo of ourselves wearing a silly party hat so that we could get to know each other properly - putting names to faces and all that.
I would love to show you all the photos of the girls, but I think some of them would probably string me up :)
Anyway, this is the photo of me that I posted and for some unknown reason not one of them believed it is actually me. And this is a photo that Chris has on her blog of everyone at the meeting.
Now Calender Girls remember 'Wheres Willy'? Well, this is 'Wheres Lynda'. I shouldn't be too hard to spot if you keep the above photo in mind. Good luck!

The two cards are lovely. Where did you get the stainless steel fabric?? I have copper but have never seen stainless steel.
I must say you are looking good for your age.
Cheers

You are too funny! I hardly know where to start but anyways - your postcards are lovely. I'm sure they will be delighted to receive them. I can't believe the postcard group didn't think that was you - you're wearing a signature corset
=0) And somehow after looking and looking I can't find that bright red outfit anywhere in the group. LOL!

I forgot to add that you would fit right in in Vegas!

Well, we couldn't recognise you as you have had your hair cut since the picture was taken, and I hope you had a warm coat :)

The postcards are wonderful.

Hi Lynda
Love the PC's, the corsets look amazing.
You all look as if you had a fabulous day at the ERTF meeting, how I wish I didn't live so far away, it sounds as if it went really well from Chrissy,s account.
I must say you made a real effort to dress up for the occasion LOL

Hi Lynda,
So glad you had a good day on Saturday -just hope you aren't expecting us to adopt the red outfit as some kind of uniform!
We've had the first committee meeting (we don't hang around you know) and lots of things that arose on saturday are now underway, so watch your inbox.
take care
chris
