Gossamer Fuse and other stuff

A friend recently sent me some of this to have a go with

Gossamer Fuse
Its another fusible webbing. To me, it feels like a cross between Bondaweb and Misty Fuse. Its not quite as dense as Bondaweb but then again not quite as fine as Misty Fuse - which makes it an ideal all rounder.

There are also instructions and suggestions for use inside which is very helpful. I haven't had much opportunity to play with it but wanted to blog about a piece I started today.
This has a velvet background with foil bonded on top and measures about 18" x 18". A layer of pieces of different coloured organzas have been placed on the foil with a layer of Gossamer Fuse on top. A single piece of organza has been bonded on the top.The whole piece has then been run lightly under the embellisher.
I now intend to handstitch into it
.

These are close ups.

I will blog again about Gossamer Fuse when I have had a chance to experiment with it some more.

Thought I would also show a couple of other pieces I have been working on. These are also close ups, no point in showing the whole pieces as they are nowhere near finished yet.

These are just a couple of boxes made out of some scrap bits I had lying around. I've been using my samples to make postcards with recently but decided to have a go at these five minute jobbies. Great fun. You can find the instructions for these here.

And this is a disaster! Wanted to show you this just to let you know that the emulsion, ink and bleach technique (what I refer to as the VCH treatment) just does not work on embellished scrim :)
This was going to be a try out for my February contribution to the Calendar Girls blog. All the January cards are up there now with a short description from their makers on how they were put together.

And finally, another link to a site you must go visit: Cyber Fyber Exhibition If you want to find out what the exhibition is all about and you have postcards or ATC's you wish to trade, then make sure you click on the link. Not only has Susan Lenz of Art in Stitches single-handedly organised this exhibition, she is now giving you the opportunity to own one of her fabulous pieces of art.

Top pieces look interesting as do the other unfinished bits. Love the bar pieces on the last of the unfinished, the brown. Shame about the calendar girls bit, can it be rescued??? The shape and stitch is lovely.

They are nice though - what have you created with the bits you cut off????
Congrats on inclusion to Cyder Fyber - well deserved.
Cheers

Hi Lynda
Love the colours on the first samples, and will be interested to see your findings on the Gossamer Fuse.
Still haven't got round to trying the misty fuse, I looked for it at Sandown, but couldn't even find Bondaweb!
The little boxes are delightful, thanks for the link.
Congrats on your inclusion to the Cyber Fyber exhibition, well deserved

Intriguing samples, I like the postcard, certainly don't see it as a disaster and when I have a couple of days to spare I will try one of you "five minute jobbies"!!!

I love those little boxes. I've saved the link to have a go at making some when I have the chance. Really good use for your samples.

This is getting spooky, boxes? How come we where thinking the same thing again? Only mine (s) are different from yours. I love what you did with the Gossamer fuse. I can't wait to see what's next.
