Ink and Bleach

Its been a little while since I used one of my favourite techniques - emulsion, ink & bleach and I'm sure I've been suffering from withdrawal symptoms!

I had been trying out a technique on the embellisher but wasn't overly happy with the outcome so I thought I would give it the 'treatment'.

I painted on household emulsion paint, left it to dry, applied a coat of black writing ink and left that to dry too. I then sloshed bleach over it.

Although I love the finished result, especially the way you can just see the colours underneath showing through, I'm not sure that I would bother to embellish fibres specifically to use with this technique.

The top photo shows the whole piece, A4 size, and the two underneath are close-ups.

Click on the photos for a closer look.

can you give me a little more description of what "Household emulsion paint" is? Is this like paint the walls paint?

I like the way the colours just peek through occasionally.

Looks good to me Lynda but I can see what you mean about the process.

What a great technique Lynda - how stiff is the fabric by the time you are finished?

this is very interesting. i'm trying to postpone the combination of natural materials with the embellisher and the use of paint and chemicals because i have lots to do at the moment but it will be the next obvious step...
i like very much how it looks, but i think you mean it isn't worth to cover the embellished base if you can't see it...?
