More dyeing

Just a short post to show that I'm still alive and kicking!

I've been doing some more rust dyeing and its true what they say: practise makes perfect, except I do still need some more practise but these pieces are certainly an improvement on my first attempts.

Although you can't really see it from the photograph this first piece really resembles animal hide - which animal though I couldn't say!

These three pieces of cotton were coloured using what I consider to be the 'standard' method.

The following two pieces are Procion dyed, firstly with Burnt Orange then overdyed with Indigo Blue. This is the front, the piece I need to use...

... and this is the back, which no-one will see.

'Sods Law' says the back looks so much better!

Love the orange and blue pieces Lynda - what make of dyes are you using? Great texture

I agree with you Lynda, the back is stunning Lynda. as you say Sod's Law. Do you have to use it? Can't you make another one for the purpose you had in mind and save this wonderful piece for something else?

Your rust dyes are awesome and the blue/orange is really nice on both sides but I agree - back over front! Sounds like you had a fun day!

Your rust dyed pieces turned out fabulous. The blue and orange piece is great on both sides. I can see it would be hard to choose which side to use.

Love the rust dyed fabrics, and like Micki I would find it difficult to choose between front or back on the blue and orange fabric

I have to ask - why can't you use the back? Looks fantastic! The animal hide piece is incredible - I can feel the texture from here!! Glad to hear you are alive and kicking that's for sure.

but why not use the back? I love the way that overdyeing looks. The blue with the rust is a perfect combo.

They look great, I love the lines that run threw the second picture, It makes me wonder how they got there. They look sharp.

The blue and orange piece is wonderful! I think I prefer the front though, I seem to be the only one...

Annica I have to agree I prefer the front as well but it depends what you want to do with it Lynda. As Margaret says can't you make another piece, but there again what are the chances you can get what you want. Glad to see you're still with us in Blogland, we've missed you.

Who the heck is Sod and why should he have any say anyway??? I prefer the front, myself. Just my humble opinion.
