Fibre Art Friends Page Swap

Yesterday, in the post, I received this wonderful page from Carol (Textile Tales) for the Fibre Art Friends Page Swap for May. My theme is ‘Black and White and a Dash of Red’.

When I first looked at the page I thought Carol had been melting fabric but on closer inspection I could see that it is actually lace!
The tag that came with it says that the page was made with black cotton velvet and white lace, painted with black acrylic and dry brushed with white gesso.
This gives it a lovely crunchy texture which you have to see in person to be able to appreciate fully. It is wonderful, very tactile.

These are close ups of the painted lace.

The tag, with all the details on, came in its own velvet pouch.

Below is the collection of pages I have received so far.

Top left: Sarah And Sew On
Top right: Emmy Cramzy
Second left: Dianne FaeryDi
Second right: Terri StegArt
Bottom left: Carol Textile Tales
Bottom right: My cover page

And the tags themselves are miniature works of art.

Thank you Carol for this wonderful page and thanks also to SueB and Terri for allowing me to be a part of the very talented group of textile artists which make up Fibre Art Friends.

What an amazing group of talented artists you are working with. How many pages will there be in your book eventually?

That's a fantastic new page. But the impact of all of the pages together is wonderful! You are right the tags are art on their own. They would look really cool mounted and framed together.

I love the theme you have chosen and agree they do look good all together. Carol's page is fab as usual. I also love the way she has just used the word 'Dash' in red in the middle.

Don't the pages look fantastic all together, I had mine all spread out yesterday, and got quite excited at the thought of the finished book.

Aren't these pages wonderful. I must admit black, white and red is one of my favourite combinations - it can be so striking. You lucky thing having art from such talented ladies!
