Experimenting

These are just a few bits and pieces I have been working on recently which I thought I would share as I go along.
I have been experimenting with different types of dyes on the same combination of fabric to see which ones best suit my needs.
The second photo in each sequence is kitchen towel which I used to soak some of the excess dye from the fabric. These pictures were all taken while still wet, as they begin to dry the colours are not quite so vivid on the kitchen towel which is very disappointing.

I'm not sure yet if this piece is going to work. I watered the fabric paints down to try and blend them together but they seem to have seperated. I think I will probably overdye this with procion dye. I'm hoping that if I use just one colour it will be light at the top going to dark at the bottom.

This final piece is also part of a project I am working on at the moment. The centre panel is scrim with soy silk needled on top.

What scummy colours, especially the top two. I've just sent for some procion dyes so can't wait to get started.

Oooh these look so luscious. I was wondering, what type of fabric are you dyeing? There seems to be texture to these.
