Another Journal

Finished another journal at the weekend.
When I made the first one I made loads of notes on the techniques I wanted to improve on, so although I am still not where I want to be with these journals, the finish on this one is a definite improvement on the first.

I used the fabric which I dyed a couple of weeks ago when I was so inspired by Jane Dunnewolds DVD's. The cover is made from a linen fabric. The spine and decoration on the front are cottons and the slashed piece is muslin. I used felt tip pen to 'doodle' on the cotton before stitching down.

The lining is also cotton which I have started to 'doodle' on, again with felt tip pens.

The pages were painted with watercolour paints.

Close up of the rag rug spine.

Have made a start already on journal number three. These are really fun to do.

This is really beautiful. I now know what is 'wrong' with my art - I have not dyed any fabric for ages! I have been relying on a rather large stock of fabric acquired from friends and relatives but not much of it dyeable!! THANKS

Oh this is absolutely gorgeous Lynda. I wish I had some of your energy - all I did yesterday was curl up on the sofa with a book! I;m going to try some of Traci's doodling later!

I never thought much of making a decorative journal until I saw this one. It is gorgeous!!! I will have to come up with something, however, for the bead journal project I signed on for. sigh.
