Dragons Breath and Iron Gall Ink

I have been creating some more samples with these inks, and I am really excited about the results. As you know, I seem to be obsessed with Rust and Grids at the moment and these pieces fit the bill splendidly, especially the ones where I have used flour and water paste!!
I just need to take some photographs, sort them into some sort of order, write up my notes and then I will share them with you.

But for the time being I wanted to show you the generosity of some of the other textile artists on the blogging circuit.
I arrived home from work yesterday to 3 parcels and then again today to 2 more! It’s true what they say how it never rains but it pours.

From Joanna (Serenity is Bliss) came this wonderful 3D fairy postcard, along with some Misty Fuse, which I love using, some scrapbooking papers and these little charms. I only mentioned the other day how I am getting quite hooked on these charms that everyone seems to be attaching to their work.

SueB (Sue Bleiweiss) sent me one of her wonderful teapots that she has designed. They are amazing. I didn’t realise from the pictures on Sue’s blog exactly how tall they stand, this makes them look even more majestic. Included in the parcel was the pattern which is available from Joggles if you want to have a go yourself, and if you ever get the chance to have one made by Sue, then my advice is grab it – you’ll love it.

She also sent me this wonderful tag she had made which, once I have shown everyone, will go inside the teapot so that everyone will know where, how and why it is in my possession.

Next is the parcel from Carol (Textile Tales). Carol is having a play with Lutrador at the moment and had ordered some different weights. I’ve never used Lutrador and I didn’t realise it came in different weights let alone in black too. So she very kindly sent me all this, which was extremely generous of her, and I can’t wait to get started with it.

Doreen (Creative Meanderings) sent me these four wonderful postcards.

You would be so right in thinking they are Australian Flora but on closer inspection you can see they are actually machine embroidered pieces. The lady who creates these amazing pieces is Lynne Stone and you will find her website here. Doreen went to see these pieces at the National Botanic Gardens in Canberra, I only wish I could see them up close too.

My final parcel was from Jacqueline (Jacqueline’s Blog). I only recently discovered her blog and it is awesome. Jacqueline paints her fabrics after applying them. That phrase makes the process sound so simple, but if you take a look at her blog, some of her pieces are outstanding. And Jacqueline is right, the pieces are so much better than they look in the photographs.

She also sent me this wonderful ATC.

So, thank you girls, your generosity is very much appreciated. I am so glad I decided to start blogging a few months ago. I have ‘met’ some truly amazing people. Long may it continue!

Lynda,
I can't wait to see your experiments with the Iron Gall Inks, if they are only half as good as the wondeful vessel you made back in March 07 with these inks, they are going to be spectacular.
Also fantastic postbox this week, what wonderful gifts
