In the post

A bumper lot of post today. I'm sure the postman saves it all up and delivers it in one hit!

On the Fiber Art Friends group we have pledged to send a birthday card to each member sometime during the month of their birthday. This month there are two birthdays Digital Gran and mine.

This first card is from Emmy (Cramzy). Emmy makes real use of her embellisher. This card has an embellished felt and organza background with scrim on top then free machine stitching to secure the fibres. The colours are wonderful as is all Emmys work. Take a look at her blog and you will see what I mean.

This card is from Sue (Bleiweiss) . Threads and snippets of metallic fabric have been bonded to the wool felt background then covered with a fine black net. It feels so soft and squishy which Sue tells me is due to her background fabric giving a bit extra body. The colours are very luxurious. Go take a look at Sues blog. She has made a Girlfriends teapot and a Girlfriends blessings box using Girl faces made by Terri (StegArt) and it is really amazing.

And finally, this card is from Anna (Serendipity). Anna has used magazine paper for the background and free machined cut out letters on top. A very novel idea. Anna was making a postcard a day for January - and is still going strong! Her blog and website is well worth a look.

Also in the post was another card from Sue. We were partnered for a 'textured ingredients swap' with the Fiber Art Friends group. The idea being that we send a package of fibres and threads to our partner who then makes a textured postcard from the items and sends it back. This is the package I sent to Sue:

And this is the postcard she sent back. I really love these colours.

But that wasn't all. Sue also sent this padfolio using the remainder of the pieces I sent. These padfolios are a really novel idea. Sue has posted a tutorial for these on her blog.

Finally, Carol (Textile Tales) has sent me some books and postcards on historical embroidery to use for my City and Guilds coursework. These will come in very useful.

So thank you Emmy, Sue, Anna and Carol.
