Alternative Book Cover

I started to make this book cover alongside the one I chose to use. I like to work like this if I am undecided about how to complete a project and then I just go on to finish the one I prefer.

This one is made in the same way using the slashing technique.
I printed rows of the words ‘Black & White & a dash of Red’ onto inkjet transfer paper and ironed it on to muslin. As you can see, I left some of the words whole and just cut around the muslin so they showed up more clearly. I think it’s quite hard to make out what the words on the slashed fabric say until you know what they are and then of course it is easy to read them.

I love this work and am very impressed with the wide use of slashing you have made, even making beads well done. I would like to invite you to join my textile challenges group, we make a sample of a technique a month. We only swap something some months and not others. The link is below
